Post: It’s September!

It’s September! Here are some jobs to be doing in the veg patch this month:–

1. Sow fast growing lettuce and summer radish for crops this autumn. Make sure you water it in dry spells of weather.

2. Plant onion sets. These are normally Japanese varieties and will be ready to harvest earlier than spring planted ones.

3. Harvest crops which were not ready in July and August – carrots, pumpkins, onions and shallots.

4. Pick beans which were grown for drying and storing.
